GloriaFood Is Shutting Down: The Best Alternatives for Restaurants

GloriaFood is closing on 30 April 2027

Oracle owns GloriaFood, and it's switching the platform off on 30 April 2027. After that there's no GloriaFood ordering at all, so every restaurant on it has to move somewhere else before that date.

If you're on GloriaFood now, don't leave it until the spring. Changing your ordering system a few weeks before a hard deadline is how you end up with a broken checkout on a Friday night.

What GloriaFood gave you

GloriaFood was free online ordering software. You got:

  • a menu and ordering widget you could customise
  • a website builder
  • table reservations
  • a basic mobile app option

Plenty of independent restaurants and small chains used it because it charged no commission. What it didn't have was much in the way of integrations, and it never connected directly to a POS.

What happens to your data when GloriaFood closes

Once it shuts down, you lose access to your customer database, your order history, your menu setup, and your website and ordering widget. The customer list only survives if you export it before closure.

So export your customer data and order history now. Every other GloriaFood restaurant has the same deadline, and you don't want to be doing this in the last week of April along with everyone else.

The best GloriaFood alternatives

1. Flipdish - best overall for restaurants that want to own their ordering channel

Flipdish is the one to look at if direct ordering is a big part of your business. GloriaFood gave you an ordering widget. Flipdish runs your website, mobile app, kiosks and POS from one platform.

Things Flipdish has that GloriaFood never did:

Flipdish works with over 2,000 restaurant brands across the UK, Ireland and Europe. It only does restaurants.

2. Otter - for juggling delivery marketplaces

Otter is built for restaurants running several delivery marketplaces alongside their own ordering. It's not a good fit if you want a fully branded direct channel.

3. Lightspeed - for table-service restaurants

Lightspeed does POS and online ordering, aimed mainly at full-service restaurants. Takeaways and delivery-led businesses won't get as much out of it.

4. Square Online - for simple setups

Basic ordering, low upfront cost. Fine for a very small operation that doesn't need a branded app or a proper POS integration.

How to migrate from GloriaFood to Flipdish

  1. Export your GloriaFood data now: customer list, order history and menu.
  2. Book a Flipdish demo and work out which products fit your setup.
  3. Upload your menu to Flipdish. The onboarding team can help with this.
  4. Launch your Flipdish website, app or ordering widget.
  5. Email or text your customer list and point them to the new ordering channel. A first-order discount gets people to actually switch.
  6. Be live on Flipdish by January 2027 at the latest. That gives you about three months running both before GloriaFood closes.

Why start early

If you move early, you've got time to train staff on the new system, set up a new rewards programme to win back your regulars, and test every ordering channel before the cutover. You can also import and clean up your customer database, and sort out integration problems without a deadline breathing down your neck.

Leave it until April 2027 and you'll be doing all of that at once, with orders still coming in.
